About Umotu

Umotu is a decentralized Participation Protocol that rewards verified humans daily for contributing to a global public network through mobile-based data availability sampling. Users can receive rewards in their preferred stable currency and pay gas in stablecoins, making participation accessible without speculation. Umotu is EVM-compatible and designed for long-term availability with capped emissions. Umotu is not a company and not an investment product—it is a protocol for universal participation.

Participation, not capital

Rewards go primarily to verified users that do real network checks, not to miners with expensive hardware or large stakers.

Human-verified, privacy-first

Proof-of-Human (PoH) confirms liveness + uniqueness off-chain; biometric templates never go on-chain and can be deleted on request.

Stables-first UX

Users can receive rewards or pay network fees in UMT or supported stablecoins;

Open & composable

EVM-compatible; contracts, clients, and SDKs are open source.

How the network works

Proposers (data-center validators) produce blocks every ~2s.
Phones sample data to confirm availability and, when selected as Sentinels, co-sign finality.
PBS-lite: Builders compete to supply ordered bundles; fees are shared between proposers and Sentinels per policy.

Token: UMT (native)
Daily emissions cap: up to 0.01% of the remaining emissions pool (~3.65%/yr max)
Phones: most emissions (for DA checks and Sentinel participation)
Proposers: base fees + tips share; zero new-token emissions
Target, not promise: Per-user payouts adjust with participation and policy

Privacy & Control

Self-custody: You control your wallet, recovery phrase, and keys.
Off-chain biometrics: PoH providers store and process FaceId off-chain; users can request deletion anytime.
Minimal on-chain data: Contracts store only PoH status/attestations—not biometrics.

Name & Ethos

Umotu draws inspiration from Paʻumotu, a Polynesian language spoken by a small community. We use the name respectfully as a reminder to build for everyday people.
